South Australia is a state in the southern central part of Australia. The area was proclaimed a British settlement in 1836. It became part of the Australian Federation in 1901.
The first stamps were issued in 1855. They had a portrait of Queen Victoria.
Some of our older stamps, especially from the 19th century, are not in good condition, but we have placed them on this page as they are from our inherited collections and have sentimental value.
