Fujairah has a coastline on the Gulf of Oman and is the only one of the 7 Emirates that does not have a coastal border on the Persian Gulf. It is one of the 7 states that make up the United Arab Emirates today. In 1952 it was the last of the Emirates to join the Trucial States and in 1971 it became part of the United Arab Emirates.
Fujairah has the oldest Mosque in the UAE. This is the Al Badiyah Mosque. Unlike other mosques, it has no minaret and has 4 domes whereas other mosques have between 7 and 12. It was built in 1446 of mud and bricks.
Fujairah issued its own stamps from 1964 until 1973 when their stamps were replaced by those of the United Arab Emirates.
