Malaya
Japanese forces invaded Malaya in 1941 and they remained in occupation until 1945.
During this period stamps of all the States of Malaya were issued with Japanese overprints. Afterwards, the individual States once again issued their own stamps.

Burma
Japan occupied Burma during the 2nd World War from 1942 to 1945. In 1942 postage stamps were issued by the Japanese Army and by the Burma Independent Army who had been trained by the Japanese. In 1943 and 1944 stamps were issued by the Burma Government with the permission of the occupying forces.
