Negeri Sembilan is a state in Malaysia on the west coast of the Malaysian peninsula. It has land borders with Selangor to the north, Pahang to the east and Melaka and Johor to the south. Its capital is Seremban. In 1873 the country was placed under the control of a British Resident. During World War II the country was occupied by Japan from 1942 – 1945. In 1948, it became part of the Federation of Malaya and was incorporated into Malaysia in 1963.
The first stamps were stamps of the Straits Settlements inscribed Negri Sembilan.
