The Republic of Rwanda is a small landlocked country situated in Central Africa. It is the smallest country in Africa. It has borders with Tanzania to the east, Burundi to the south, the Democratic Republic of Congo to the west, and Uganda to the north.
Until 1916, stamps of German East Africa were used. Thereafter stamps of Ruanda-Urundi were used. After independence in 1962, stamps of Rwanda were issued for the first time.
