
The Czech Republic (also known as Czechia) is a landlocked country in central Europe. It is bordered by Germany to the west, Austria to the south, Slovakia to the east and Poland in the northeast. Its capital is Prague. It is a highly developed country which ranks as the 7th most peaceful and safest country with a strong democracy. In 1993, the country of Czechoslovakia divided into the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
The first stamps of the Czech Republic were issued on 20 January 1993.
