Hyderabad is a state in India. From 1724 it was known as the Nyzam Dynasty and in 1948 it became part of India. Today it is a capital city and a cultural centre.
Hyderabad was a feudatory state and issued its own stamps from 1869 – 1949. Because printing and design methods were very basic, the stamps issued by these feudatory states are often referred to as “Uglies”.
