The People’s Republic of Kampuchea (previously Cambodia) existed from 1979 – 1993. The government of the country had limited international recognition from the international community. In order to improve this situation, the country was renamed as the State of Cambodia in 1989. The leadership was still the same and in 1993, the country was once again known as the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Stamps were issued in the name of the People’s Republic of Kampuchea only from 1980 until 1989, when the country reverted to the name of Cambodia.
