Sabah, formerly North Borneo, is now a part of Malaysia.  It was a British Crown colony which attained self-government in 1963 and in the same year became part of the Federation of Malaya.

From 1964 until 1986, stamps of Malaysia and other Malaysian states were inscribed Sabah.
