The Federation of St Christopher and Nevis is a two island country in the West Indies, east of Puerto Rico. Its capital is Basseterre which is situated on the larger island St Kitts. The country is part of the Commonwealth with a British monarch as head of state.
From 1903 – 1956, stamps were issued concurrent with stamps of the Leeward Islands. From 1952 until 1967, the stamps were inscribed “St Christopher Nevis and Anguilla”. In 1980, the postal administrations were separated for St Kitts, Nevis and Anguilla.
