Kouang-Tcheou (officially Kounang-Tcheou-Wan) situated on the southern coast of China was administered as part of French Indo-China then returned to China after a short occupation by Japan, in 1946.
The stamps of the French post offices in China were postmarked by the various Indo-Chinese post offices but the stamps were issued with overprints specific to the office which issued the stamps. One of these was Kouang Tcheou Wan from 1900. All foreign run post offices in China permanently closed at the end of 1922.
