Netherlands Antilles is a group of islands north of South America which are part of the kingdom of the Netherlands. The country came into being in 1950 and was dissolved in 2010. The islands of Curacao, Bonaire and Aruba are today still part of the Netherlands.
The first two stamps inscribed with the name of the islands were on the occasion of the 74th anniversary of the Universal Postal Union. After the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles in 2010, three different postal authorities produced stamps for the area, Curacao, Sint Maarten and Caribbean Netherlands.
