
Portuguese Guinea, a former Portuguese colony on the west coast of Africa, gained independence in 1974 and is today known as Guinea-Bissau.
From 1877 – 1881 stamps of the Cape Verde Islands were used overprinted “Guine”. Until independence in 1974, mainly stamps of Portugal were used.
