The Federation of South Arabia consisted of 15 states of the Federation of Arab Emirates of the South.  Under British protection, it was formed in 1962, joined the Crown colony of Aden in 1963 and added the Upper Aulaqi Sultunate in 1964 to make 17 states in total.  The Federation only existed from 1962 until 1967 when it became independent as the People’s Republic of Southern Yemen.  Stamps were only issued from 1963 until 1966.
