Album I

Welcome to our next progress report.

Album I is completely different to the previous albums.  It consists of pages with small squares and names of the Countries at the top of the page. 

Unfortunately, as in the previous albums, the stamps have been hinged.  There are many unused stamps in this album and really beautiful stamps as well.  There are more than 2000 stamps in the album, so it took quite a while to get everything done properly.

For the first time, we came across so-called Cinderella stamps.  These stamps were usually issued in excess of postal needs or were never available to the public, so there is either no or very little reference to them in the Stanley Gibbons Catalogues we are using.  Some of the countries in this album where we came across these stamps are Fujairah, Bhutan, Ras al Khaima, Umm al Qiwain, Sharjah and Yemen.  Below is a page of Cinderella stamps from Fujeira.

We were beginning to think that after cataloguing some 20 000 stamps, we would only be finding stamps for the existing territories.  In this we were quite wrong and found stamps for the following territories as well:
